Connection Troubleshooting

License Manager requires internet access to communicate with the Prokon License Server. Various external factors can interfere with communication.

Check-list for connectivity problems

Tip: Use the connection troubleshooter to perform a battery of connection tests and view tips on correcting connection problems.

Firewall configuration

License Manager uses the HTTPS protocol on port 443 to communicate with the Prokon License Server. This is the same protocol and port used by secure Internet websites.

Your firewall must allow outgoing TCP connections on port 443 to *.prokon.com. As an alternative, list \Prokon\Bin\LicenseManager.exe as an exception in your firewall.

Proxy server configuration

License Manager uses the system proxy server configuration by default. You can override this setting by entering a proxy server or selecting to use a direct connection on the settings tab.

When using the system proxy server configuration, the following discovery sequence applies:

License Manager performs the proxy server discovery on start-up (unless you have entered a proxy server or selected to use a direct connection). If the initial connection to the license server fails via the discovered proxy server, License Manager automatically retries the connection one more time using a direct connection. If the direct connection succeeds, then the program continues to use a direct connection for the remainder of the session.
